A hillside retreat in Aburi
A private residential villa for George Vaughan in Aburi, in Ghana's Eastern Region. The design responds to a sloping, green site, with the house stepping down the hillside among mature trees and palms.
Terraces that frame the view
Broad terraces, balconies and large openings connect the interiors to the landscape, while stone-clad bases and a timber-accented gable roof give the villa a warm, natural character.
A home designed to sit lightly on its hillside setting and open up to its surroundings.
Our architects shaped the villa around the natural topography, using layered levels and outdoor living spaces to make the most of Aburi's cool climate, greenery and views.
The result is a calm, modern residence rooted in its tropical landscape.
